Woman Caught Smuggling 700 Pounds of Illegal Bologna at Texas Border

The 43-year-old U.S. citizen also attempted to bring in undeclared prescription medications and over $7,600 in concealed currency.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers discovered 748 pounds of prohibited Mexican bologna in the woman's vehicle at the Presidio Port of Entry.
The illegal meat, made from pork, poses a threat to the U.S. pork industry due to the potential for introducing foreign animal diseases.
During a secondary inspection, CBP agriculture specialists found the bologna hidden in several heavy suitcases.
Officers also seized 280 boxes of undeclared prescription medications, including controlled substances like Tramadol and Alprazolam.
The woman was issued a $1,000 civil penalty, and the bologna, medications, vehicle, and concealed currency were confiscated.
