Overview

• Just after 3 a.m. Tuesday, responders were called to a home in Ashburn’s 2400 block of West 80th Street where a witness found a 25-year-old woman unresponsive in the backyard and EMS discovered a 1-year-old inside
• Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene and no other injuries were reported
• Chicago police have opened a death investigation but have not identified the victims or said what led to their deaths
• The deadly discovery follows a recent uptick in violent incidents on the city’s South Side that have heightened public safety concerns
