Overview
- The incident occurred around 7 a.m. Tuesday in the Campo Grande police station and was captured by the facility’s cameras.
- Police say she arrived carrying a bottle of alcohol, a lighter and a backpack, doused herself and ignited her clothing before officers extinguished the flames and provided first aid.
- She remains in critical condition at Hospital SAMIC de Oberá with about 35% burns, significant facial and airway involvement, mechanical ventilation, and surgical wound cleaning completed.
- Before lighting herself, she said, “Por lo que le hicieron a mi hijo,” and the case is being handled by the Juzgado de Instrucción N° 1 de Oberá.
- Doctors did not order toxicology testing, and reports that she may have been intoxicated or reacting to her son’s recent contravention detention are unconfirmed and under review.
