Wolves Overcome Bournemouth 2-1 with Late Goal from Sasa Kalajdzic

Victory brings relief for Wolves' boss Gary O'Neil against his former club as Bournemouth's poor start to the season continues with a ninth winless game.

  • Wolves came from being one-goal down at half time to beat Bournemouth 2-1 with a late goal from Sasa Kalajdzic. Bournemouth had taken an early lead from a goal by Dominic Solanke.
  • The match saw the return of Wolves' boss Gary O'Neil against his former club. O'Neil had been sacked from Bournemouth in June, despite leading the team to Premier League survival. In the match against Bournemouth, O'Neil's tactics led to Wolves' victory.
  • The defeat extends Bournemouth's poor start to the season, having yet to secure a win in nine games. Their new manager, Andoni Iraola, has so far been unable to turn around the team's fortunes.
  • Wolves managed to secure victory despite trailing until the second half. Matheus Cunha leveled the score two minutes after the break, and Kalajdzic's late goal turned the tide in their favour.
  • Bournemouth played almost 40 minutes with only 10 men after midfielder Lewis Cook was shown a red card for serious conduct, including a headbutt on Wolves' Hwang Hee-chan. Despite a number of chances, Bournemouth was unable to come back from this disadvantage.
