Wolfgang Joop’s Life Work Opens at Kunstraum Potsdam

Curated by partner Edwin Lemberg, the free exhibition foregrounds recurring ape and angel imagery.

Overview

  • The retrospective runs October 4 to November 18 with free daily admission from 12:00 to 20:00.
  • More than 200 works span fashion, drawings, paintings, sculptures, photography and installations, including items not previously shown together.
  • Runway collections are revisited through video projections highlighting past shows in Paris and Milan.
  • The vernissage on October 3 drew family and invited guests, with Brandenburg culture minister Manja Schüle praising Joop’s creativity.
  • Lemberg said a tour to other cities is conceivable with no concrete plans, as Joop voiced interest in writing a sardonic, humorous book and opted against a red carpet.
