Wolf Supermoon on Jan. 3 Will Close Current Series, SUPARCO Says

The perigee full moon is expected to align with the Quadrantid peak, creating especially bright evening skies across Pakistan.

  • SUPARCO confirms the year's first supermoon, traditionally known as the Wolf Moon, will occur on January 3.
  • In Pakistan, moonrise is at 5:51 p.m. local time with illumination at 99.8%, with the best views on the nights of January 3 and 4.
  • At the event, the EarthMoon distance will be about 362,312 km, making the Moon appear roughly 6–7% larger and up to 10% brighter than average.
  • This is the final supermoon in a sequence that began in October 2025, marking the end of the current run.
  • The next supermoon series is forecast to begin in November 2026, with no additional supermoons expected before the end of 2026.
