Wolf Fire Containment Reaches 35% as Blaze Tops 2,400 Acres

Firefighters are bolstering containment with aerial and ground assaults under cooler, more humid conditions.

Overview

  • The blaze ignited just after 3 p.m. Sunday at Old Banning Idyllwild Road and Wolfskill Truck Trail, south of the city of Banning.
  • Evacuation orders cover 13 zones and warnings extend to 20 additional areas, and shelters for residents and animals are operating in Hemet and San Jacinto.
  • Roughly 925 personnel, supported by 103 engines, 10 dozers and 16 water tenders, are assigned to the firefight.
  • Three firefighters suffered non–life-threatening injuries and, as of Tuesday evening, no structures have been lost.
  • Cal Fire continues to investigate the fire’s origin as cooler, more humid conditions help crews reinforce lines.
