WNBA Expansion Draft Rules Unveiled for Golden State Valkyries

Teams must protect six players each ahead of the December 6 draft as Valkyries prepare to build their roster.

The WNBA announced the Golden State Valkyries expansion draft will take place on December 6, 2024.
Each of the 12 existing teams can protect six players from being selected by the Valkyries.
Golden State can select one player from each team, including one unrestricted free agent who hasn't been cored twice.
Teams' protected player lists will be submitted around 10 days before the draft but will not be made public.
Key players like Sabrina Ionescu, Jonquel Jones, and Aliyah Boston are expected to be protected by their respective teams.
