Overview

• Crews have scaled back after more than 24 hours on scene and are damping down hotspots as smoke continues to disperse.
• About 100 firefighters from up to 20 stations tackled the 80m-by-50m industrial unit blaze with support from UK Power Networks.
• The incident began around 4:42pm on Friday at the Eastways industrial estate near a railway line, and Greater Anglia reported no disruption to train services.
• The building, identified locally as the GBL premises, involved two units, and Essex Fire & Rescue said surrounding risks were protected.
• Roads on the estate have reopened, and nearby residents are still advised to keep windows and doors closed due to residual smoke.
