Overview
- Shortly after 10 a.m. Monday, officers responded to the 6100 block of Grand Avenue where a driver hit a 79-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman in a parking lot.
- The man suffered serious injuries and was taken to Advocate Condell Hospital, while the woman sustained an ankle injury and was treated at Lake Forest Hospital.
- The suspect fled the initial scene, was found during a disturbance in the 6400 block of Grand Avenue, aggressively approached an officer, and was subdued with a Taser before being taken into custody.
- Police say she used a large butcher knife to strike a car window and slash a tire, and a man who confronted her suffered hand lacerations before disarming and restraining her.
- Authorities identified the suspect as a 25-year-old from Waukesha, Wisconsin, characterized the incidents as random, and said charges had not yet been announced.
