Overview
- Officers were called around 10 a.m. Monday to the 6100 block of Grand Avenue where a vehicle struck a 79-year-old man and then a 60-year-old woman in a parking lot.
- The man suffered serious injuries and was taken to Advocate Condell Hospital, while the woman sustained a non-life-threatening ankle injury and was taken to Lake Forest Hospital.
- Police said the driver fled as officers used witness statements and security footage to identify the vehicle and canvass the surrounding area.
- An officer then encountered a disturbance in the 6400 block of Grand Avenue, deployed a taser when the woman advanced, and took her into custody.
- Investigators determined the woman, 25, from Waukesha, Wisconsin, had also attacked a man with a large butcher knife after the crash, injuring his hands before he disarmed and restrained her, and said charges are pending as the investigation continues.
