Wisconsin Puppy with Rare 'Extra Leg' Condition Available for Adoption

Bella, a unique puppy with a congenital condition called dimelia, is up for adoption in Kenosha, showcasing duplicated bones in her leg.

Bella, a 6-month-old puppy at the Wisconsin Humane Society, has a rare condition known as dimelia, resulting in an extra femur, two tibias, two fibulas, and nine toes on her right hind leg.
This is the first case of canine dimelia documented by the Wisconsin Humane Society in its 145-year history, making Bella exceptionally rare.
Despite her unique condition, Bella is healthy, pain-free, and moves around well, although she walks with a slight limp.
Veterinarians have considered her medical options, including amputation, but have decided against it as she manages well with her condition.
Bella will be available for adoption on April 26 at the WHS Kenosha Campus, with potential adopters encouraged to establish a veterinary care plan.
