- Kenneth J. Herrera, 40, of Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin, was sentenced to 12 months and one day in prison for violating the Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture (PACT) Act.
- Herrera had previously pleaded guilty for creating, selling and distributing an animal crushing video, which included a monkey being physically abused.
- In 2021, Herrera paid a videographer in Indonesia $100 for the video, providing specific instructions for the monkey's abuse.
- The judge also sentenced Herrera to three years of supervised release and to pay a $5,000 fine.
- The FBI and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service investigated the case, and it was prosecuted by the Justice Department’s Environment and Natural Resources Division and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Wisconsin.
