Wisconsin Man Arrested for Triple Homicide After Multi-Agency Search

Virgil Thew, 47, was apprehended in Elroy, Wisconsin, approximately 12 miles from the crime scene, after a tip about a suspicious individual.
Thew is charged with three counts of first-degree intentional homicide in the deaths of Elizabeth Kolba, 33, and two girls, aged 12 and 13, found shot in a New Lisbon home on December 30, 2024.
Authorities confirmed Thew knew the victims, though the exact nature of their relationship remains undisclosed.
The FBI and U.S. Marshals joined the search for Thew earlier this week, with law enforcement sharing his name and photo widely on social media.
The Juneau County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude for public tips that contributed to Thew's capture and extended condolences to the victims' families.
