Republican Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos has called for an in-depth review of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives across state government.
Vos previously used a budget standoff to force a reduction in DEI staffing at the Universities of Wisconsin.
An agreement was reached to release $107.6 million for a 6% pay raise for about 35,000 university employees, resolving a six-month battle over the raises.
The deal also included a freeze on diversity hires, re-labeling of about 40 diversity positions as 'student success' positions, and the creation of a position focused on conservative thought.
