Winthrop Police Lieutenant Charged with Child Rape
James Anthony Feeley Allegedly Confessed to Crimes, Now on Administrative Leave
- James Anthony Feeley, a Winthrop police lieutenant, has been charged with one count of aggravated rape of a child and two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.
- Feeley allegedly confessed to the crimes on Christmas night at his parents' gravesite, while contemplating suicide.
- Feeley was arrested and pleaded not guilty to all charges. He has been placed on administrative leave from the Winthrop Police Department.
- The alleged assaults took place over the past year and Feeley was arrested after an investigation by State Police detectives assigned to the Suffolk district attorney’s office.
- Feeley is due back in court on January 29, 2024.
