Overview
- Police identified and arrested 26-year-old Kervens Boutin of Stoughton after several women reported separate encounters in downtown Winthrop and an apartment, police said.
- Detectives say surveillance footage and prompt victim reports helped corroborate the accounts and led to Boutin’s capture following a short foot chase on Governor’s Drive on Wednesday.
- Officers used a Taser after Boutin allegedly resisted arrest, three officers were injured with one taken to a hospital, and the suspect was also treated at a hospital.
- Boutin was arraigned on counts that include two counts of indecent assault and battery, breaking and entering, child endangerment, and resisting arrest, and prosecutors say additional charges are possible.
- A judge ordered a court mental competency exam to assess Boutin’s ability to aid in his defense and the result could lead to further evaluation at a state hospital before the case moves forward.
