Winnipeg Youth Counsellor Charged with Sexual Exploitation of Incarcerated Teen

Troy David Wensel allegedly exchanged canteen items for sexual acts while working at a Manitoba youth corrections centre.

Troy David Wensel, 51, has been charged with sexual assault, exploitation, and obtaining sexual service from a minor.
The alleged incidents occurred between 2022 and 2023 at the Manitoba Youth Centre, where Wensel was employed as a youth counsellor.
Police report that Wensel provided the victim with extra canteen items in exchange for sexual acts.
Wensel was arrested on Tuesday following the victim's report of the assaults.
He has been released under conditions that prohibit contact with individuals under 18.
