Winnipeg Jets Defeat St. Louis Blues 4-2, Connor Hellebuyck Makes 18 Saves

Jets overcome initial season struggles with second straight win, as Hellebuyck recovers form allowing just four goals in last two games.

  • Connor Hellebuyck made 18 saves, contributing significantly to the Winnipeg Jets' 4-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues. Hellebuyck's performance has improved markedly in the last two games, allowing just four goals compared to 13 in his first three games of the season.
  • Kyle Connor, Mason Appleton, David Gustafsson, and Morgan Barron scored for the Jets, who are beginning to recover from a shaky start to the season with this being their second consecutive win after losing three out of their first four games.
  • Pavel Buchnevich and Robert Thomas scored for St. Louis, with Buchnevich returning from a two-game absence due to an upper-body injury. St. Louis goaltender Jordan Binnington stopped 26 out of 29 shots.
  • The Jets quickly established a strong position in the game, scoring twice in just 18 seconds three minutes into the second period. Gustafsson was the first to score, coming off the bench to land an unchecked goal, followed swiftly by Appleton.
  • The victory held particular significance for the Jets as it was their first game without head coach Rick Bowness, who is on leave following his wife's seizure. The team agreed to put their best foot forward in Bowness's absence, dedicating the win to him and his wife, Judy.
