Wink Martindale Interviews for Falcons and Colts Defensive Coordinator Roles

The former NFL and Michigan defensive coordinator could return to the league after parting ways with the Giants in 2023.

Wink Martindale, 61, is interviewing with the Atlanta Falcons on Tuesday and the Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday for their defensive coordinator positions.
Martindale left the New York Giants in 2023 after a public fallout with head coach Brian Daboll and spent one season as Michigan's defensive coordinator.
The Falcons and Colts are seeking to replace their fired defensive coordinators after underperforming defensive seasons in 2024, ranking 23rd and 24th in points allowed, respectively.
The Cincinnati Bengals have also been reported as a potential suitor for Martindale, though no formal interview has been scheduled yet.
Martindale has a strong NFL track record, including leading top-performing defenses with the Baltimore Ravens from 2018 to 2021 and contributing to a Super Bowl win with them in 2012.
