Overview

  • On July 10, Wings of Rescue flew 117 shelter cats and dogs from San Marcos and San Angelo to Fort Worth Meacham Airport, marking its second pet evacuation flight this week
  • Across two charity missions since July 9, the organization has relocated a total of 242 animals to Fort Worth, Texas and Kanab, Utah
  • Volunteers from the Humane Society of North Texas and other partners unloaded crates within 20 minutes and began veterinary triage before placing animals in shelters and foster homes
  • Best Friends Animal Society, CUDDLY, Austin Pets Alive! and local shelters collaborated on logistics and veterinary care to free up Central Texas capacity for flood-displaced pets
  • Rescued animals will complete health checks and soon be available for adoption as nonprofits plan longer-term recovery and reunification efforts
