Wing and DoorDash Launch Drone Delivery Service in Dallas-Fort Worth

The service offers rapid deliveries from over 50 merchants at two local malls, leveraging advanced autonomous drones.

Wing, a subsidiary of Alphabet, has partnered with DoorDash to deliver goods via drones from Hulen Mall in Fort Worth and Stonebriar Centre in Frisco, Texas.
Customers with eligible addresses can select drone delivery for orders through the DoorDash app, with items arriving in as little as 15 minutes.
The drones operate autonomously, flying at speeds of up to 65 mph and cruising at an altitude of 150 feet, using a tether system to lower deliveries to the ground.
This marks the third U.S. market for Wing's drone delivery service, which has previously operated in Virginia and partnered with Walmart and Walgreens in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
The Federal Aviation Administration has granted Wing permission to expand operations by using onboard detection systems instead of visual observers, enhancing its delivery range.
