Overview

  • Attendees and performers adapted to a heat warning and 32 °C conditions by distributing water and using cooling measures along the route.
  • Wendy Nicholson said 85 entrants marched in the 33rd annual parade, which was met by hundreds of spectators lining Ottawa Street.
  • Local school boards, businesses, religious groups and uniformed police joined the procession as an estimated three-quarters of onlookers showed ally support.
  • After the parade, more than 1,000 people queued to enter Lanspeary Park for a post-parade celebration with vendors and artists.
  • Pridefest ran from August 1 to 10, opening with a City Hall flag-raising and featuring events such as family bowling, a Queer Tour, Run for Rocky, Queens and Kings of Pride and a Glitterball.
