Windsor and Essex County Line Up Parades, Concerts and Fireworks for Canada Day

Local organizers have mapped family-friendly activities alongside extended transit to unite residents countywide.

Overview

  • Downtown Windsor’s annual Canada Day parade steps off at 11 a.m. on Ouellette Avenue, preceded by a fan zone opening at 10 a.m. with timbits, face painting and live entertainment.
  • Amherstburg kicks off celebrations with a 9 a.m. run/walk/wheel event, free admission and activities at Fort Malden National Historic Site and an evening of live music leading into fireworks.
  • Tecumseh’s Backyard Party spans three parks, featuring a noon family picnic and concert at Lakewood Park North, children’s games at McAuliffe Park and a Rock ’n’ Swim session before a Tecumseh Thunder game.
  • Essex County towns will host park festivals with food vendors, live music and fireworks, including Harrow Rotary’s family event from 5 p.m., Kingsville’s giant sandbox and train rides and Woodslee’s 3:45 p.m. parade.
  • Leamington’s Music On the 42 series brings a Bob Seger tribute at 7:30 p.m. to Seacliff Park followed by fireworks at 10 p.m., and LT-Go Transit service runs until 11 p.m.
