Windracers Claims 2,000km Endurance for ULTRA Heavy-Lift Drone

A London demonstration drew government backing for ULTRA as a sovereign logistics asset.

Overview

  • Windracers announced its ULTRA unmanned aircraft can complete a single mission of up to 2,000km, with a configuration targeting a 200kg payload over that distance.
  • The company’s head of engineering said the platform already carries more than 100kg over 2,000km, with a 200kg option expected to be available in the coming months.
  • Event demonstrations included a fully autonomous flight at Llanbedr Airfield in North Wales and a drop-floor system designed for resupply in remote or contested locations.
  • Windracers reported active ULTRA deployments in Ukraine, Alaska, Central Africa and the polar regions, including work at the UK’s Rothera Research Station in Antarctica.
  • UK Minister for the Armed Forces Al Carns publicly endorsed the capability, and Windracers outlined plans to expand manufacturing to produce hundreds of aircraft over the next two years.
