Windows 11 Updates Cause Wi-Fi Connectivity Issues

Microsoft is rolling back the problematic updates, but a full fix could take up to 24 hours to reach all affected devices.

  • Microsoft has acknowledged that two recent Windows 11 updates, KB5033375 and KB50532288, are causing some PCs to struggle with Wi-Fi connectivity, particularly when trying to connect to public networks such as those in businesses and educational establishments.
  • The issue does not seem to affect home Wi-Fi networks and is being addressed by Microsoft, who is in the process of rolling back the updates. However, it could take up to 24 hours for the fix to fully propagate to consumer devices.
  • Users who can't wait for the fix can attempt to restore their system to a point before the updates were installed or manually remove the troublesome updates.
  • Despite the Wi-Fi issue, wired connections and cellular connections via mobile hotspots are still functional as temporary workarounds.
  • This Wi-Fi problem is the second major bug created by Windows updates in recent weeks. Another recent update resulted in any connected printer being labelled as a HP model, preventing some users from being able to use advanced print features.
