Windows 11 Update Blocks Ubisoft Games Due to Crashes and Black Screens
Microsoft halts its 24H2 update rollout for PCs with affected Ubisoft titles while working on a fix with Ubisoft.
Overview
- The Windows 11 24H2 update is causing issues with Ubisoft games, including crashes, black screens, and unresponsiveness during gameplay.
- Affected games include Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Assassin’s Creed Origins, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Star Wars Outlaws, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
- Microsoft has implemented a compatibility hold, preventing the update's automatic rollout to systems with these games installed to avoid further disruptions.
- Ubisoft has released a temporary hotfix for Star Wars Outlaws, but performance issues persist while a permanent solution is developed.
- Users are advised not to manually install the update, and those already affected can roll back to a previous Windows version or use Task Manager to close unresponsive games.
