Overview
- Point-in-Time Restore lets users and IT admins roll back devices to a healthy snapshot that includes the OS, settings, system files, local files, and applications, with a preview arriving in a Windows 11 Insider build this week.
- Cloud Rebuild can remotely reinstall Windows 11 from the cloud via the Intune portal, allowing admins to pick the release and language while Autopilot, OneDrive, and Windows Backup for Organizations restore management, apps, and user state.
- Microsoft plans to integrate both capabilities directly into Intune in H1 2026 so organizations can initiate recovery actions at scale and manage Windows Recovery Environment behavior centrally.
- Quick Machine Recovery, already generally available, is being enhanced with stronger networking, Autopatch management, and a streamlined boot-repair process that resolves issues after a single scan.
- Intune recovery enables remote control of WinRE for custom scripts and actions, and the Azure Portal now offers the same recovery management for Windows Servers hosted in Azure virtual machines.
