- Preview Windows 11 builds surfaced a new “Do nothing” remap for the dedicated Copilot key that makes the key ignore presses, a setting first reported by a Windows watcher in late July 2026.
- Microsoft’s support documentation confirms users can also remap the Copilot key to act as the Right Ctrl key, the Context menu key, or launch chosen apps through Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Keyboard.
- The new disable option is appearing inconsistently in Insider and experimental builds and may require enabling a feature ID on some systems before it becomes visible to testers.
- Microsoft says the changes respond to users and accessibility advocates who lost the Right Ctrl or Context menu key on many laptops and who reported disrupted keyboard shortcuts and assistive-technology workflows.
