Wim Wenders Named Jury President of 2026 Berlinale

The 80-year-old filmmaker, long linked with the festival, will guide the International Jury’s prize decisions.

Overview

  • The Berlinale press office confirmed Wenders will chair the 76th festival’s jury in February 2026.
  • This year’s festival runs February 12–22, 2026, with prizes scheduled for February 21.
  • Festival director Tricia Tuttle called it an understatement to say the team was proud to secure him as jury president.
  • Wenders said serving in his hometown will let him watch every competition title and discuss them in depth with a film-enthusiastic jury.
  • His appointment follows decades of Berlinale ties, including an Honorary Golden Bear in 2015, and he succeeds recent jury leaders Todd Haynes, Lupita Nyong'o and Kristen Stewart.
