Overview
- Tommy Hitt, 46, pleaded guilty to ten offences at Salisbury Crown Court in March and was sentenced at Winchester Crown Court on June 13 to 21 years and six months in prison.
- On February 21, Hitt held his partner captive for 10 hours, inflicting burns with a blowtorch, forcibly shaving her head and subjecting her to physical and sexual assaults.
- The victim suffered lasting damage to her eyes, teeth, face and arm and has released harrowing photos of her injuries through Wiltshire Police to help other survivors recognise signs of abuse.
- Sentencing judge HHJ Dugdale condemned the offence as displaying “an inexplicable level of violence” in a “horrific attack” and ruled that Hitt poses an ongoing risk to the public.
- In addition to the prison term, Hitt was convicted of criminal damage and possession of a class B drug, ordered to pay a £228 surcharge and placed under a restraining order.
