Wilsbach Names David R. Wolfe 21st Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force

A security-forces veteran trusted by Gen. Kenneth Wilsbach, Wolfe enters the role during a broader senior-leadership reset.

  • the Air Force announced Wolfe’s selection on Nov. 6, three days after Wilsbach was sworn in as chief of staff.
  • Wolfe succeeds Chief Master Sgt. David A. Flosi, who is retiring after the September death of his wife and his subsequent retirement notice last month.
  • A 36-year Air Force member who enlisted in 1992, Wolfe built his career in security forces, including missile and space security, elite guard duties, protective services, logistics, and training.
  • He previously served as command chief at Air Combat Command and as Wilsbach’s senior enlisted adviser during command tours at both ACC and Pacific Air Forces.
  • Secretary of the Air Force Troy Meink endorsed the choice, and Wolfe will serve as the principal enlisted voice on welfare, morale, quality of life, and policies affecting rank-and-file Airmen.
