Overview
- The Prince and Princess of Wales spent more than an hour at Farnborough Road Infant and Junior School, where they privately met the parents of Elsie Dot Stancombe and spoke with staff about supporting pupils after the attack.
- Children were told only minutes beforehand that the couple were visiting, and hundreds greeted them as they arrived at Elsie’s former school.
- At Churchtown Primary School, they toured a new playground created in memory of former pupils Alice da Silva Aguiar and Bebe King, to which the couple had contributed through earlier fundraising support.
- Prince William addressed the school, calling the playground a symbol of remembrance and resilience, telling pupils to “be brave, be joyful and be kind,” and pledging, “We will always be here to support you.”
- The visit follows the July 29, 2024 attack that killed Alice, Bebe and Elsie; attacker Axel Rudakubana was sentenced in January 2025 to life with a minimum term of 52 years.
