Wildlife Board Panel Clears 17 Defence Projects in Ladakh and Sikkim

• At its 88th meeting, the SC-NBWL approved defence proposals tied to strategic infrastructure in border and high-altitude areas.
• The session was chaired by Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav, according to the ministry’s statement.
• The committee considered 70 proposals spanning public utilities, defence needs and infrastructure in and around protected areas.
• Public utility items under review included Jal Jeevan Mission drinking water schemes, primary and community health centres, road widening, 4G towers and transmission lines.
