Wilding Family Handed 40-Year Animal Ban After Dog Neglect Convictions

RSPCA removed the surviving dogs for urgent medical treatment in preparation for rehoming.

Overview

  • Michelle and Christopher Wilding received 27-week jail terms suspended for two years along with 15-year bans on keeping animals; Jack Wilding was banned for ten years and fined £270 with a £108 victim surcharge.
  • RSPCA officers found dozens of dogs confined in urine-soaked cages kept at temperatures as low as 3 °C and deprived of food, water, bedding and veterinary care.
  • A veterinary report documented 12 dogs in thin body condition alongside heart murmurs, eye and ear infections, dental disease and pressure sores consistent with prolonged confinement.
  • RSPCA inspectors first warned the family in January 2021 about unsuitable dog housing but the owners ignored advice to reduce numbers or improve conditions.
  • RSPCA has rescued all surviving animals for urgent care and plans to rehome them when they are fit for adoption.
