Overview
- The grass and garden-waste fire near Alexandra Palace Way started on Thursday, July 23 and burned about half an acre of compost and garden rubbish.
- Six fire engines and roughly 40 firefighters were sent to the scene, and the London Fire Brigade deployed a Terrain Support Vehicle that carries about 475 litres of water and specialist kit.
- Brigade control officers logged the first call at 12:41 and reported the blaze under control by about 14:57, with crews remaining to damp down hot spots and manage safety measures.
- There were no reported injuries, but road closures remain in place, the W3 bus is on diversion, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
- The brigade urged the public to avoid disposable barbecues and to discard smoking materials and rubbish responsibly because prolonged hot, dry conditions and recent regional droughts have raised wildfire risk and pressure on emergency services.
