Overview

• The Bravo Dragon Fire has consumed the Grand Canyon’s North Rim lodge and adjacent facilities, including the visitor center and gas station.
• The blaze destroyed a wastewater treatment plant, administrative building and several employee housing units.
• Release of chlorine gas from the burned treatment plant forced evacuations of firefighters and hikers in the inner canyon.
• Fire lines on the nearby White Sage Fire held at the North Rim and in the community of Jacob Lake following red-flag warnings.
• Crews are building buffer zones toward the Vermilion Cliffs and continuing full suppression efforts under hazardous summer conditions.
