Overview
- Network Rail said a signalling fault at Wigan North Western has blocked some lines, with trains subject to cancellation, delays of up to 30 minutes, revisions or diversions.
- Services to and from Liverpool Lime Street are affected, with severe disruption reported on Liverpool–Manchester, Wigan–Manchester and around Preston.
- Avanti West Coast lists impacts on routes linking Glasgow and Edinburgh with Birmingham, Glasgow and Lancaster with London Euston, and Blackpool North with Crewe.
- TransPennine Express will not run between Preston and Liverpool Lime Street, is diverting some services via Chorley, and reports disruption from Wigan toward Manchester Victoria with ticket acceptance in place including Metrolink between Manchester Victoria and Piccadilly.
- Northern says Blackpool North–Liverpool Lime Street trains cannot run, ticket restrictions have been lifted, and rail-replacement vehicles are operating between Wigan North Western, Euxton Balshaw Lane, Leyland and Preston.
