Overview
- Black Bear announced Wednesday that Wicker will screen in 4DX for one night on Oct. 28 at roughly 60 U.S. locations in response to fan demand.
- Co-directors Eleanor Wilson and Alex Huston Fischer and distribution chief David Spitz said audiences requested a multisensory presentation and that the film’s sound and production design lend themselves to 4DX effects.
- 4DX pairs motion-based seats with more than 21 environmental effects such as wind, water, vibration, scents and lightning to create a synchronized multisensory experience.
- Wicker premiered at the Sundance Film Festival to strong reviews and standing ovations and stars Olivia Colman, Alexander Skarsgård, Peter Dinklage and Elizabeth Debicki.
- The event is part of Black Bear’s broader U.S. rollout strategy as the smaller distributor seeks a commercial breakthrough and as exhibitors test using 4DX for a bold, comedic indie rather than a typical action title.
