WHO Declares End to Global Mpox Health Emergency Due to Declining Case Numbers

The World Health Organization has declared an end to the global health emergency for mpox due to significant decreases in cases worldwide over the last three months.
The outbreak spread to over 100 countries but was primarily concentrated among men who have sex with men.
Almost 90% fewer cases were reported in the last three months compared to the three months prior.
The WHO warned the virus could still resurge, especially around upcoming Pride events.
The WHO urged continued disease monitoring and response capacities to address mpox, especially in African countries where it remains endemic.
