Vancouver Whitecaps FC head coach Vanni Sartini has been suspended for a total of six matches and fined $20,000 by MLS for multiple violations of league policy.
Sartini's violations occurred both during and after the team's playoff loss to LAFC on Nov. 5, including entering the field of play in a confrontational manner and public criticism of the referee.
Sartini was shown a red card in the 95th minute of the match, which will result in a one-match suspension at the start of the 2024 season, with an additional five matches added to complete the punishment.
Sartini must also complete a league-approved behavioral assessment and comply with any recommended treatment.
Sartini has expressed regret for his actions and committed to all recommendations from the league.
