Whitecaps and Pumas UNAM Draw 1-1 in First Leg of CONCACAF Quarterfinals

Vancouver faces a challenging second leg in Mexico City as injuries mount and a semifinal spot hangs in the balance.

The Vancouver Whitecaps and Pumas UNAM played to a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup quarterfinals on April 2, 2025.
Brian White scored in the 71st minute for Vancouver, but Adalberto Carrasquilla equalized for Pumas in the 87th minute.
The second leg will take place on April 9, 2025, at Estadio Olimpico Universitario in Mexico City, where Vancouver needs a win or high-scoring draw to advance.
Vancouver played without five injured players, including captain Ryan Gauld, and dealt with lighting issues at BC Place during the match.
The winner of the series will face either Los Angeles FC or Inter Miami CF in the semifinals of the prestigious regional tournament.
