Gilbert spent most of 2024 with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, where he went 4-0 with a 2.25 ERA and 52 strikeouts in 31 relief appearances.
To make room on the 40-man roster, Chicago designated infielder Braden Shewmake for assignment; Shewmake hit .125 in 29 games with the White Sox in 2024.
Gilbert has a career 4.23 ERA across 34 MLB appearances, including 13 starts, with previous stints at Arizona and Philadelphia.
