Thorpe was involved in two major trades last offseason, moving from the Yankees to the Padres and then to the White Sox.
The surgery will be performed by Dr. Kenneth Akizuki at Golden State Orthopedics in San Francisco.
Thorpe's recovery plan includes an eight-week shutdown from throwing, aligning with spring training preparations.
