White House Launches New Office of Pandemic Preparedness Led by Retired General

The White House has established a new Office of Pandemic Preparedness and Response Policy.
Retired Air Force Major General Dr. Paul Friedrichs was selected to lead the office starting August 7.
The office will coordinate efforts to prepare for and respond to biological threats that could cause a pandemic.
It will take over duties from the administration's COVID-19 and monkeypox response teams.
The office will provide Congress with preparedness reports every five years.
