  • Which? named Wells in Somerset first with a destination score of 83, followed by Avebury in Wiltshire on 82 in its inland towns and villages list.
  • Avebury earned five stars for scenery, attractiveness and tourist attractions, supported by its National Trust-managed stone circles with free access.
  • Ludlow placed 8th on 79 and topped the survey’s food and drink category.
  • Shropshire also featured Church Stretton in 11th (78) with strong peace-and-quiet ratings and Ironbridge in 13th (78) with high marks for tourist attractions.
  • Oxfordshire entries included Lower and Upper Slaughter (77) for scenery and attractiveness, Henley (71) for food and drink, and Burford (70) for attractiveness.
