Overview
- Which? analysed CAA data for May 2024 to April 2025 and found British Airways, easyJet, Jet2, Ryanair, Tui and Wizz Air departed on time less often than in 2019 using the 15‑minute threshold.
- Tui had the lowest share of on‑time UK departures at 59.2% in 2024/25, down from 67.2% in 2019, while Wizz Air was little changed at 66.0% versus 66.8%.
- Other notable shifts included Jet2 falling to 68.0% from 81.8%, Ryanair to 66.5% from 77.8%, easyJet to 67.8% from 70.6% and British Airways to 68.7% from 71.5%.
- Eurocontrol reports some parts of Europe are 10–20% short of needed air traffic controllers, a pressure airlines also link to strikes and restricted airspace, as UK provider NATS says it is fully staffed.
- Which? urges clearer communication on rights, noting compensation is not owed for delays outside an airline’s control, while Tui, easyJet and Wizz Air stress flight completion over cancellations and three rivals declined comment.
