Overview

• The Advanced Chat Privacy setting in each conversation stops anyone from invoking Meta AI with “@Meta AI,” preventing the assistant from accessing message content in that chat.
• When enabled, the mode also turns off automatic saving of shared photos and videos to the device and disables chat export.
• The control works in individual and group chats, and any group member can toggle it, prompting a brief notice to the thread.
• WhatsApp still offers no global switch to remove Meta AI from the app, and the blue AI indicator remains visible.
• Separately, WhatsApp is testing an AI writing-assistant in Android beta and for selected iOS users that suggests rewrites and tones and, according to Meta, uses Private Processing for local, encrypted handling without storing inputs.
