Overview

• The Quick Recap tool has been uncovered in WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.25.21.12, marking its first known appearance in development.
• Users will be able to select up to five conversations and receive AI-generated summaries of the most relevant unread messages in each chat.
• The feature is optional and disabled by default, requiring manual activation in Settings and automatically excluding chats protected by Advanced Chat Privacy.
• Quick Recap relies on Meta’s Private Processing framework—using end-to-end encryption, secure enclaves and isolated computation to keep original messages and summaries unreadable by WhatsApp or Meta.
• Availability is currently limited to the Android beta preview with no confirmed timeline for a wider release.
