Android devices on version 5.0 or lower and iPhones running iOS 12 or earlier will lose WhatsApp access on August 1, 2025. The full list of incompatible models includes Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2 series, early iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 handsets, first-generation Moto G and Droid Razr HD, among others. In-app notifications will warn owners of affected devices, provide step-by-step backup guidance and will not request personal data. Users are advised to back up chats to cloud services and to use WhatsApp Web temporarily if they cannot upgrade immediately. Meta says the move will bolster security and enable advanced features such as multiple simultaneous calls and AI-driven tools.
