• Android devices on version 5.0 or lower and iPhones running iOS 12 or earlier will lose WhatsApp access on August 1, 2025.
• The full list of incompatible models includes Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2 series, early iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 handsets, first-generation Moto G and Droid Razr HD, among others.
• In-app notifications will warn owners of affected devices, provide step-by-step backup guidance and will not request personal data.
• Users are advised to back up chats to cloud services and to use WhatsApp Web temporarily if they cannot upgrade immediately.
• Meta says the move will bolster security and enable advanced features such as multiple simultaneous calls and AI-driven tools.
